The Hombres - Ya Ya (1967)

Coming from Memphis, Tennessee in 1966, this band was primarily known for their single “Let It Out (Let It All Hang Out)” which was a hit for the group in 1967. Their lead vocalist, B.B. Cunningham, is the brother of Bill Cunningham, the bassist and keyboardist for The Box Tops.

[Update 10/15/2012: Sadly, B.B. Cunningham passed away October 14th, 2012. He was shot dead while working as a security guard in a Memphis, Tennessee apartment complex.]

This song, originally by Lee Dorsey, has been covered by many artists, including Tony Sheridan, John Lennon, and Steve Miller. It was inspired by a children’s nursery rhyme and first released in 1961.
